Checked out the new dog park
6 posts | Page 1 of 1
This last weekend I went to the dog park at Chapin Park. Both Saturday and Sunday there were about 15 dogs that were in the big dog area. My dog had a good time and I'm so happy to finally have a place where dogs can play together.
I also took my dogs to the park Sat afternoon, there were only about 6-10 dogs on each side, but my dogs loved it. It was so much fun to watch them run to their little hearts content.

Love the new dog park. Big Dogs Huge Paws Rescue has an open meet up group every weekend. Switching back and forth between Saturday and Sunday. You can find the times under events at www.bigdogshugepaws.com. Please come out and join us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have drive by the intersection where I thought it was supposed to be, and I can't tell where you are supposed to park. What street do you turn off of? Unless they have put signs up since I have been there I think it is hard to find.

If you turn in using the MacArthur street entrance and drivie back about 1/2 mile you will find plenty of parking and the fenced in dog area. The city could use a few more signs that is for sure.

well I see someone beat me to the big dogs hosting meetups there. We have gone every saturday/sunday for some time now even in the blistering cold. Do wear boots! The little dog side does have some sod there, but the big dog area is mostly mud with some hay on top here and there.
The entrance is tricky since the address for Chapin park is 3800 S. Hydraulic, but that entrance is still locked since it's not been paved yet. You have to go to the Macarthur entrance, right across the Emery Park entrance.
Do make sure your dogs have been socialized when letting them off the leash. Had one dog on saturday attacked two dogs and seemed to just pick anyone it felt like. Of course we want any and all dogs to run the 7 acres in the big dog area, but also don't want any of our dogs to be harmed. Small quarrels tend to happen and get shrugged off and no big deal. And they can and will happen when new dogs are experiencing the huge area and sometimes bombardment of current dogs there. Join us for chats or stand with us watching our four legged friends run and run and run!
