Sad but true story with happy ending (and you can make it happier)

I'm passing on this message from Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection, which is hoping to find homes for some special puppies.
Last Friday, Friday the 13th, our volunteers at Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection got a frantic call from a worker in the oil fields out by Cheney. He had gone to work early that morning and noticed an Alco sack out in the field. He passed by that sack several times during the day, thinking nothing of it. Someone had littered which is a common occurrence. About 3 pm he heard the sack “cry”. He went up to it and discovered seven newborn pups, probably about 24 hours old. One, sadly, was already dead. The others were crying in hunger and cold. This kind man, picked them up, put them in his truck and called LAPP. One of our wonderful volunteers, Kay Smith, fetched them, took them home, got them milk and stayed up all night with them. Her entire family took turns feeding and warming them.
After a trip to the vet we began looking for a surrogate mother. Much to our surprise, a woman in Clearwater had contacted the vet’s office that same day, asking whether they knew of anyone who was missing a dog, apparently one who had recently had pups, because a very nice girl had shown up at her farm house a few days before. No one claimed the mama, whom we named Dawn, and so this mother who had lost her own pups became mom to 6 motherless pups.
The reason for this tale is to find some homes for these little abandoned pups. They appear to be border collie mixes but we are not sure. They will be ready to get a good home just in time for Christmas. Mama, too, needs a loving home. Please call 807-8473 if you think you are ready to give a good, loving home to a Christmas puppy.
